We are thrilled open our 26/27 Program Season with an in-person event featuring San Francisco Bay Area fiber artist Linda Gass.

How do we respond to the effects of climate change, pollution and contamination of our water resources? What will inspire us to change our behavior? Artist Linda Gass will take you on a multi-media journey for a behind-the-scenes look at the research, concepts and artmaking process of her unique artwork focused on climate change, water and land use. Working in textile, glass and installation art, Linda’s artwork addresses the relationship between humans and the water and land that sustain them. Her work explores how landscapes change over time, focusing on those places where destruction and renewal, wounding and healing, absence and presence overlap. You will leave with a new appreciation and awareness for the impacts of climate change and how art can play an important role in educating the public.

Dogpatch: Sea Level Rising

Linda is best known for her intricately stitched paintings about climate change, water, and land use. She also works in public art, community-engaged projects, and glass. The recipient of numerous honors including the prestigious Fleishhacker Eureka Fellowship and Silicon Valley Creates Artist Laureate, she recently received a grant from the Belle Foundation. Gass’ work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and can be found in museum, municipal, and corporate collections. When she’s not making art or championing environmental causes, you can find her backpacking, camping, and hiking in the wilderness areas of the West where she finds inspiration for her work.
